About The Card

Venture X is built to be easy: strong flat-rate earning everywhere, boosted earn in the Capital One Travel portal, and credits that reliably offset the fee. The lounge coverage and built-in protections round out the “premium” feel without getting complicated. Use the $300 travel credit each year and collect the 10k anniversary miles—those two alone can cover most of the annual fee before you even count the miles you earn at 2x/5x/10x.

Qualifications (what to know before you apply)

  • Credit needed: Typically aimed at excellent credit profiles.
  • Capital One quirks (unofficial but common): Often pulls multiple bureaus; commonly limits approvals to about one new Capital One card every ~6 months; personal card slots are limited.

Pros

  • $300 travel credit + 10k anniversary miles = easy long-term value if you travel.
  • Real lounge coverage (Capital One + Priority Pass) for the primary cardholder.
  • Simple earning (2x everywhere; more via portal) and 1:1 transfers to many partners.
  • Strong travel protections and primary rental car coverage.
  • No foreign transaction fees and built-in cell phone protection.

Cons

  • Best value assumes you’ll use Capital One Travel for the $300 credit and boosted earn rates.
  • Lounge policy tightens Feb 1, 2026: complimentary guesting ends; Priority Pass guests become paid; authorized-user lounge access becomes a paid add-on per AU per year.
  • Capital One approvals can be strict and unpredictable.
Is this card for me?

Pick Venture X if you book at least some travel each year, want straightforward earning with transferable miles, and you’ll use the lounge access, protections, and cell phone coverage. If you rarely travel or won’t use Capital One Travel for the annual credit, a lower-fee card may fit better.
